Melbourne based songwriter, producer and self-confessed bedroom-pop addict Evan Klar releases the self-directed official video for his latest single ‘I Do’. The track which was co-produced with Nikolai Potthoff and Tobias Kuhn (Milky Chance) and crafted with a broken bass guitar, pocket synth with verse vocals recorded on a mobile phone is the first official single to be lifted off a new EP which will arrive later in the year.
Shot on a balmy Melbourne evening, a single take with no edits, the video which premiered via Purple Sneakers shows a distressed but strong character (performed by LA songwriter Hailey Collier), dancing through the streets of a summer night and breaking through emotional change.
“My new song ‘I Do’ tells the story of real-life experience.” Says Klar, “This video I’ve made is a recreation of the dream I had after that experience. We can all relate to a time of difficult change. Personally, watching this back gives me strength as it opens difficult past experiences and reminds me of how I dealt with them. This is the first take we filmed, and it turned out beyond what I was hoping to capture. I’d like to say a huge thank you to my close friends for the amazing care and effort they put into making this with me."
Since the release of his debut album Deepest Creatures in 2017, Klar has been the behind-the scenes, go-to name for collaboration. With a long and impressive list of international and Australian artists, he has painstakingly established Fall Back Studios in Flemington, an inclusive songwriting hub where he has fostered a close-knit music community.
2020 is set to be an exciting year ahead for Klar's who has not only lent his expertise is set to upcoming releases from Kate Miller-Heidke, Austen, Essie Holt and more but will be releasing music of his very own. Watch this space!
