It was the first Friday night of September and footy finals fever was in the air, yet my mind remained on other things. I was seeing a band who would prove to be worthy adolescent reincarnations of the messiah, who were also partial to some flirting in denim. Enter, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers.

The Kite Machine were the sole reason I braved the cold, wet Melbourne weather on Friday night. I heard rumour of the Geelong based rockers stellar live performance and needed to see it for myself.

The curtains parted to reveal the singer, fresh off an international tour supporting pop royalty Billie Eilish, standing among floral bouquets.  She wandered among the blooms, filling the room with bright energy, as the audience swayed, bounced and bopped.

Underneath a starry sky, surrounded by beautiful statues and architecture, I found myself in the front of the stage behind the barricade- a position I’m not too familiar with. Naturally, you could find me in the photographer’s pit, but this time I’m in amongst the crowd, eagerly awaiting the events of tonight’s show - Holy Holy.

Groovin the Moo has always been one of my favourite festivals, I grew up going to GTM so it brings about a lot of nostalgia for me. It was the first festival I went to back in 2016, and I wore a  plethora of glitter and micro silver stars on my face paired with skinny jeans and an American Apparel crop top, very very cool…
